This post is about my 2 year stint at Power Ten Rowing Club/North Orlando Rowing, which is located in Orlando, FL. The team trained out of the Orlando Rowing Club on Lake Fairview in Orlando, FL.

Boys Youth Rowing Coach

• Hired during the summer of 2009 to be the boys novice coach. Had multiple interviews with the President of the Board and the Director of the team and was initially under the impression that I would be hired exclusively as the novice coach for Power Ten Rowing Club
• Arrived in Orlando, FL in August of 2009 and was soon informed I would be the only boys coach on staff and that we only had 6 rowers and 1 coxswain
• Began implementing an aggressive program to get the athletes fit and up recruiting.
• Recruited athletes from 5 different public and private high schools
• Was able to boat a Varsity 4+ and a 2nd Varsity 4+ at the 2010 FSRA Championships . The Varsity 4+ won the petite final and the 2nd Varsity 4+ got 4th in the Grand Final
• Top coxswain attended the Penn AC Gold program summer of 2010
• Was able to encourage the board to change the name of the team to North Orlando Rowing to encourage recruiting during the summer of 2010
• Was able to build the team up to 27 total boys athletes during the 2010-2011 season.
• Won the Boys Novice 4+ at the 2010 Head of the Hooch
• In 2011 raced North Orlando’s first every entry in the Boys Varsity 8+ at FSRAs, a Boys Lightweight 8+, and a Boys Freshmen 4+. The Varsity 8+ failed to make it out of heats, the Lightweight 8+ failed to make it out of the reps.
• The freshmen 4+ took 4th in the Grand Final.
• The Varsity 8+ would turn it around and make the Grand Final of the Southeast Regionals taking 6th. The Novice 4+ would take 4th. The Lightweight 8+ would take 6th in the Grand Final. The Novice 8+ would take 5th.
• Saw top two athletes attend the USRowing SE Regional Development Camp
• Placed 7th out of 60 some entries in the boys varsity 4+ at the 2011 Head of the Hooch and left the team to move back to Virginia.
